|Canceled - Camp - WA - Ft Flagler||No duration||From the host: I have not heard if anyone is going but I will not be there as I am sheltered in place. This year was a reserve your own as I was unable to secure the group site.
Dates: May 1 2020 - May 3 2020
Where: Ft. Flagler Upper Camp Area sites 1-47
This will be a reserve your own site this year.
Note: The upper area are standard campsites (No Electricity) but higher availability.
This will be an individual site event similar to last year and not held in the group site. You will need to make your personal reservations at https://parks.state.wa.us/508/Fort-Flagler in the upper campground. Book early in case it fills up.
Note that the standard practice of the WetWesties is that RSVP's are not expected, nor required other than booking your personal reservation through the park or taking your chances as a first come first serve. We don't know who is showing up, head counts, etc. So this is your formal invitation. We like to see familiar faces as well as new ones and hope to see yours. If you don't reserve early you may not get a spot. People generally communicate with each other about the event on facebook at WetWesties - The Pacific Northwest VW Camping Society. Steven Faulker has graciously volunteered to host this event.
The Pot Luck food line starts Saturday at 6 PM so it's best to set up your food contribution before then. There is no good available covered area, so we build our own from patio canopies tied together if needed. Site location for the Pot Luck is to be determined based on who has space at their site and would like to have it there. Bring a dish of your choosing. If you can bring a table and canopy that would be welcome too. IT'S ALWAYS FUN !!!
Discovery Pass? Not required when camping in any WA State Park.
Firewood? Yes! Bring what you have or purchase from the campground staff.
Cell service? Yes.
Hook ups? No.
Potable water? Yes
Canadians and Oregonians? Definitely! We welcome Volks from from all over the continent and the world!
Pets? Yes, please follow the park rules.
We'll gather around the group campfire after the pot luck, please bring your camp chairs, break down/miraculous repair/family safe stories, good humor, fire wood, etc and join in the fun. The camp fire typically dies down around 9 but there's always a few nameless and slightly unsavory characters willing to quietly stir the coals into the night.
Fort Flagler a 19th century military fort with numerous concrete bunkers to explore so bring the kids and extra batteries for your flashlights and/or head lamps. There are also hiking/biking trails, water access for kayaking/boating, incredible sound and mountain views, a museum and parade grounds.
